In Townsville Primary, we have a structured ICT training programme for students whereby every child is given an opportunity to acquire a range of IT skills. From P1 to P6, students are being trained in the following areas:

  • Familiarisation of computer
  • Touchtyping
  • Emailing
  • MS Word
  • MS Powerpoint
  • Use of Internet Search engines
  • Cyberwellness
  • Mobile applications
  • Open source tools
  • Dataloggers
  • Windows Movie Maker
  • Digital Art

In addition, every student from P1 to P6 is subscribed to a MConline account to engage in independent learning in core subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue.

To promote students’ use of ICT for collaborative and authentic learning, IT is being integrated in Interdisciplinary Project Work (IPW) from P3 to P4.

Students involved in project work are given an authentic task or a problem to solve and they are required to use IT tools to help them organise and source for information, and create and present their knowledge.
